May 2, 2012 - We are not going to stop inviting you out, you know, so you might as well get used to it. We are a fun loving bunch and would love to have some fun with you at our upcoming events.
First, if you're short and not yet shaving anything, we have the annual TOC School Meet on May 16! Surprising Little Known Fact #1: the School Meet is TOC's largest event of the year, in which we organize tons of running fun for school teams from across the GTA. Got a gang of promising tykes that you'd like to lose in the woods? Hit the event page for more details and registration info. Surprising Little Known Fact #2: we have never actually lost even a single one of the hundreds of school meet participants we see every year; odd and statistically unlikely, but true.
Then the fun - and the barbecue - really heats up for our nearly almost mid-summer foodfest, the TOC Champs and Summer Barbecue on June 16. We run, we punch, we stagger over the finish line in an embarassing time that we blame on llamas or a bad map or really-not-trying-too-hard-today-because-it's-just-a-practice-run-for-me nonsense, and then we EAT. The Champs are when we combine food with orienteering with a year's worth of abandoned social skills with food. In spite of all that, it really is a good time. We have a newly updated map of Boyd Conservation Area on offer and are looking forward to seeing you, family, and friends there. As always, the event page is a great place to start the adventure!
Oh wait - is it Wednesday? Because Wednesday is O-Night here in Hogtown. The Wednesday Evening Park Series is bringing the road show to G. Ross Lord Park tonight, so that's where you should be bringing your sneakers. See you there!
April 29, 2012 - We beat the weather prognostications last weekend and had nothing but blue skies and sun for our Mob Match event at Long Sault. A rich, steaming crowd of old and new runners took to the course, a terrific score-o created by Jamie Humphries and David Bondy. Long Sault boasts - nay, even brags about - excellent countours, great forest cover, and very nuanced orienteering. We came with high expectations and left mightily satisfied. The long-awaited results of the Mob Match can be found here.
