Forests of York County

Course Setters’ and Meet Directors’ Notes

Welcome to the 2010 Turkey Trot co-hosted by the Toronto (TOC) and Ukrainian (UKR) Orienteering Clubs.

UKR will be hosting middle and sprint events on Saturday at Bender Graves and TOC will be hosting the long event at Eldred King Forest on Sunday. Both sites are located in the York County Forest system in the Oak Ridges Moraine.

The terrain covers dry, sandy soil with some rock features and a few water features. The forest is mostly mature oak, beach and maple with substantial wide-open pine plantation and a generous trail network.

Start times have been pre-assigned for all races. There will not be a start control to punch, so please ensure that you are at the start at least 5 minutes before your start time. Any accumulated time between your scheduled start and your actual start time will apply. We would also ask that all competitors check in at registration upon arrival..
