2010 Cub/Scout Adventure Day

Morning ScoreO Event Each participant is given a detailed topographical map with checkpoints (controls) marked on it.

Working in pairs, the cubs, scouts, and venturers will have 60 minutes to find as many checkpoints as they can!

The checkpoints can be visited in any order, each checkpoint will be given a point value based on difficulty. Penalty points will be deducted for finishing late (after the 60 min limit)

Afternoon Classic Event A timed cross-country race following a course drawn on a detailed topographical map with staggered start times.

This time, the cubs and scouts must visit each checkpoint (control) marked on the map in the specified order and the fastest time in each category wins

Eligibility: Open to registered Cubs, Scouts, Venturers and Leaders throughout the Province of Ontario. Cubs must participate in pairs and be shadowed by a leader or parent, no individuals allowed. Scouts, Venturers and Leaders may participate in pairs or as individuals.

Also open to all Girl Guides and Guide Leaders throughout the Province of Ontario! It is recommended that Guides compete in pairs in the morning event. If desired they may compete individually or in pairs in the afternoon event.
Registration: Groups and individuals can register online until Thursday April 29th.

When registering, enter the total number of participants from your group and enter the group contact information once. Then use the team numbers to indicate the individual runners plus pairs and triples so that we will know who is running with whom. For example, suppose you have 10 participants consisting of 3 Singles, 2 pairs, and a triple. Their team numbers would be entered as S1, S2, S3, P1, P1, P2, P2, T1, T1, T1. Mixed pairs and triples will compete in the higher age category.

We will accept any necessary changes to currently registered groups by e-mail to Clive Hayhow until Thursday April 28th.

Registration is limited to 100 Cubs, 100 Scouts, 50 Venturers and 100 Guides

Cost: Earlybird Registration (by April 7th, 2010): $8.00
Registration (April 8th - 29th, 2010): $10.00

Please register by April 29th, 2010 to ensure a pre-printed map.

Directions: York County Forest, North Tract (near Ballantrae)

From the East: Take Markham Rd (HWY 48) north approx 23.5 km from HWY 401 to the parking lot on the west side of the road. (first left north of Vivian Rd , just south of Davis Dr ). Watch for O-signs.

From the West: Take HWY 404 north to Davis Dr. Travel east on Davis Drive for approx 9 km to Hwy 48 ( Markham Rd ). Turn south on Hwy 48 arox 1 km to the parking lot on the west side of the road. Watch for O-signs.
