You are all invited to the Toronto Orienteering Club's annual Mob Match on Sunday April 21st, at Walker Tract - Glen Major (near Uxbridge). The event will consist of a 90 minute Score-O and a Beginner Short course (point to point).
A Score O event consists of a number of controls placed throughout the forest with varying assigned point values. Participants try to visit as many controls, in any order, as possible and get back to the start within 90 minutes. Points values are then totaled. 10 points are deducted for each minute a participant returns late which makes for quite an exciting finish!
The event will start at 11am with registration starting at 10:00am.
Directions to the meet site: From 401 take Brock Road (Pickering) north to Albright Road (about 20-25 km?). It is the first right north of Pleasure Valley. Drive east to the T-junction which is Westney Road. Turn right (south) on Westney for a short distance to a gated driveway (John Rose's home) Enter the driveway and continue past the house to the next field. Watch for O-signs.
Please feel free to invite family and friends. A Score O event is a less intimidating place to learn how to orienteer. We will be happy to teach the basics of the sport to any newcomer.
