Each participant is given a detailed
topographical map with checkpoints (controls) marked on it.
Working in pairs, the cubs, scouts, and venturers will have 60 minutes to find as many checkpoints as they can! The checkpoints can be visited in any order, each checkpoint will be given a point value based on difficulty. Penalty points will be deducted for finishing late (after the 60 min limit) |

| Afternoon Classic Event: |
A timed cross-country race
following a course drawn on a detailed topographical map with staggered
start times.
This time, the cubs and scouts must visit each checkpoint (control) marked on the map in the specified order and the fastest time in each category wins |

| Eligibility: | Open to registered Cubs, Scouts,
Venturers and Leaders throughout the
Province of Ontario. Cubs must participate in pairs and be shadowed by a leader
or parent, no individuals allowed.
Scouts, Venturers and Leaders may participate in pairs or as individuals. New for 2008! We are extending an invitation to all Girl Guides and Guide Leaders to join us for our Orienteering Adventure Day! |

Registration is limited to 100 Cubs, 100 Scouts and 50 Venturers. |

Please register by April 23rd, 2008 to ensure a pre-printed map. |

| Directions: | Directions to the meet site: From hwy 401, take exit #431 (Waverly Road / Durham Road 57), proceed north on Durham Road 57 approx 17 km to Durham Road 20. Turn right (east) on Durham Road 20 for 2.5 km following signs to the Long Sault Conservation Area parking lot. Orienteering signs will be posted. | |||||
